NPL: Lumbini sets a target of 171 runs for Pokhara



KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions, led by captain Rohit Poudel’s explosive batting, have set a target of 171 runs for Pokhara Avengers in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Friday.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Lumbini posted a total of 170/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Captain Rohit and Tom Morris shared a vital 110-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Rohit was eventually run out for a valiant 95 runs, which was the highest score of the innings. His knock included 10 fours and 4 sixes off 59 balls.

With this, Rohit became the first player to register the highest individual score in the ongoing NPL, surpassing Janakpur’s Lahiru Milantha, who had previously set the mark at 75 runs.

Morris contributed with 45 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes from 38 balls, before he too was run out. Vivek Yadav remained unbeaten on 2 runs.

The opening pair of Ashutosh Ghiraiya and Unmukt Chand were both dismissed for a duck, with Bipin Khatri claiming both wickets. Sandeep Jora was dismissed lbw for 18 runs.

For Pokhara, Bipin Khatri took 2 wickets, while Mathew Critley claimed 1.
