KATHMANDU: Historian Purushottam Shumsher Rana passed away today at the age of 99.
He died while undergoing treatment at Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur, according to his daughter-in-law, Bhagwati Rana.
As per the family, he was hospitalized after experiencing low blood pressure.
Born on Chaitra 15, 1982 BS, in Char Burja Durbar (currently the Election Commission office, Bahadur Bhawan), Rana spent his early years under the restrictions of the autocratic Rana regime.
Due to these restrictions, he completed his schooling at Palpa Durbar and passed his SLC from the UP Board.
He pursued higher education in India, completing his Intermediate at Jayanarayan College in Varanasi.
While studying for a B.Com at Banaras Hindu University, he became involved in revolutionary activities.
Rana authored several notable books, including Shree 3 Rana Kaleen Pramukh Aitihasik Darbarharu (Key Historical Palaces of the Rana Era), Lukechhipeka Pratibhaharu (Hidden Talents), and Mera Jeevanka Smritiharoo (Memoirs of My Life).
He was the grandson of Rudra Shumsher and the son of Ishwar Shumsher.
