Home Minister assures initiative to include Gadhimai Temple in World Heritage Site

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that the government will initiate steps to include the Gadhimai Temple, located in Bara district’s Bariyarpur, on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

Speaking about the temple’s cultural and religious significance, Minister Lekhak emphasized its potential to showcase Nepal on a global platform.

“The government is committed to conserving the Gadhimai Temple and its heritage,” he stated during discussions with local officials and security chiefs.

In preparation for the upcoming Gadhimai fair, Minister Lekhak stressed the importance of seamless security arrangements. He directed the Chief District Officer to ensure adequate deployment of additional security forces to manage the large influx of devotees expected at the event.

The Home Minister also urged the Gadhimai fair organizing committee to install CCTV cameras to enhance public convenience and safety during worship.

Discussions were held with Chief District Officers and security officials to finalize security measures for the fair, underscoring the government’s focus on both heritage preservation and effective event management.
