Dacoits loot more than one million rupees in Mahottari

MAHOTTARI: A group of dacoits looted property worth more than one million rupees from Manrasiswa municipality of Mahottari on Saturday night.

The armed group of around eight to nine persons looted cash and kind from the locals at gunpoint.

According to the District Police Office, Mahottari, the incident took place at around midnight when the looters looted Rs. 250,000 in cash and ornaments from the houses of Ram Lochan Raut and Shira Ramsharan Raut in Sunaul village, ward no. 3 of the municipality.

Ram Lochan Raut was also injured while trying to retaliate against the dacoits. He has sustained axe injuries to his left leg, Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari said. The group made off with six tolas of gold, 60 tolas of silver and other valuables.

The police were informed about the incident, but the dacoits had made off with the loot when the police team from Itaharwakatti police post and the area police post, Balawa reached the incident site.
