Local-level by-elections conclude, vote counting begins (In pics)

Kathmandu: The local-level by-elections have concluded, and ballot boxes are now being transported to the counting centers.

Following the conclusion of the voting process, ballot boxes from polling stations have been collected and are being taken to the designated locations. Counting for most of the polling centers that conducted elections on Sunday is set to begin today.

In Kathmandu’s Kirtipur municipality, voting has been completed for the positions of mayor, Ward No. 4 chairperson, and Ward No. 1 chairperson. Major political parties have treated the Kirtipur by-election as a matter of prestige. However, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), considered an emerging alternative force, has not fielded candidates in this election.

Similarly, voting for the position of ward chairperson in Kathmandu’s Ward No. 16 has also concluded.

On Sunday, elections were held across the country to fill 41 local representatives’ positions, including one mayor, one deputy mayor, two rural municipality chairpersons, four vice-chairpersons, and 33 ward chairpersons.
