Vocational education a must for checking brain drain: Chair Dahal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed the need of devising vocational and skill education programs to check brain drain.

Inaugurating the third international educational conference organized by the Private and Boarding Schools Organization Nepal (PABSON), he emphasized on nurturing self-respect, creative and independent thinking among youths.

“In order to lay the foundation of the socialism-oriented economic and social systems envisioned by the Constitution, it is imperative to design initiatives to develop patriotic thinking among youths. Focus should be laid on orienting the new generation to develop innovation-based products from the school level”, the former Prime Minister noted.

“Time has come for Nepal to present itself in the world education system. Now billions of rupees are being spent every year for education. To minimize capital flight, we must develop a quality and world-class education system in the country”, he argued.

Nepal can be established as an educational hub by attracting foreign students, Dahal said, adding systematic research, scientific policy and meaningful initiatives should be placed to materialize the dream.

Dahal said the government and the private sector should work together by using each other’s strengths.
