KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka has set a target of 234 runs against Nepal in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2024, being held in the UAE.
After winning the toss and electing to field at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka posted a total of 233 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
Sri Lanka built a competitive total, with Lakhvin Abeysinghe and Sarujan Sanmuganathan forging a crucial 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 87 balls.
Sanmuganathan was the top scorer for Sri Lanka, contributing 62 runs from 99 balls, including 2 fours, before being bowled out by Santosh Yadav.
Nepal’s Naren Saud claimed two wickets in consecutive deliveries in the final over to help bowl out Sri Lanka.
Abeysinghe, who scored 50 runs, was dismissed caught out. Dilnuth Sigera and Bhimath Dinsara both added 24 runs each.
Santosh Yadav was the standout bowler for Nepal, taking four wickets for 45 runs.
Yuvraj Khatri also impressed with two wickets, while Hemant Dhami and Naren Saud each picked up one wicket.
