T20 Blind Cricket World Cup: Nepal faces South Africa



KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to play its fourth match against South Africa in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup today.

On Monday, Nepal secured a convincing victory against Afghanistan, winning by 108 runs in their third match of the tournament held in Lahore, Pakistan.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat first, Nepal set a target of 229 runs for Afghanistan. In response, Afghanistan was bowled out for just 120 runs.

Vice Captain Padam Bahadur Badaila and Naresh Chaudhary played crucial roles in Nepal’s innings, both scoring half-centuries.

Badaila was outstanding, finishing with an unbeaten 92 runs off 51 balls, while Chaudhary contributed 72 runs off 62 balls.

Additionally, Bharat Thapa added 21 runs, and Sagar Lama chipped in with four runs, while Afghanistan’s bowlers conceded 39 extras.

For Afghanistan, Abashin top-scored with 52 runs, followed by Dwaran with 21 runs and Sharafat with 13 runs.

In terms of bowling, Nepal’s Sunil Rana Magar took three wickets, while Bharat Thapa, Amish Guragain, and Sunil Subedi Chhetri each claimed one wicket.

It’s worth noting that Nepal suffered defeats in their first two matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh before this victory.

Along with Nepal, the tournament features teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
