Kathmandu court extends Durga Prasai’s custody by 5 days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep Durga Prasai, medical entrepreneur  arrested in connection with cybercrime, in custody for an additional five days to facilitate further investigation.

Nabinda Aryal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Cyber Bureau, confirmed the decision on Sunday.

Prasai had previously been granted a five-day remand extension, which concluded recently.

Following this, he was brought back to the Kathmandu District Court for an additional remand hearing.

Prasai was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) at his residence in Bhaktapur on November 19, under charges of spreading false and defamatory information about Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
