Agriculture Ministry gathering details of loss and damage



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has initiated data collection on the loss and damage caused by the recent floods and landslides in the agriculture sector.

Public Information Officer at the Ministry, Mahananda Joshi said that the details of the damage caused by the floods and landslides have been collected through the province-based Agriculture Office.

The government plans to provide support to the genuine farmers in coordination with various donor agencies and development partners after collecting the details of their losses.

Joshi further informed that Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Nawalpur, Baglung, Khotang, Jhapa, Kailali, Lamjung, Parbat, Kaski, Syangja, Sindhuli, Makawanpur and Kavrepalanchowk districts have been hit hard by the recent disasters.

According to the Ministry, the damage caused by the floods is estimated to be Rs 6 billion.
