ANFA bids farewell to national football team

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association on Friday bid farewell to the national football team leaving Nepal to play the match against Kuwait and Chinese Taipei for the Asian Qualifiers FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Asian Cup China 2023.

At the program organized at the Satdobato-based hall of Nepal Olympic Committee, ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa announced to honor the players with a cash prize if they beat Kuwait.

Also speaking Head Coach Johan Kalin said they have prepared well for the clash, adding that they aim to snatch away points from Kuwait.

On Thursday, Kalin had announced his final squad for the matches.

Nepal will play Kuwait on September 5 in their opening Group B Qualifiers match. Likewise, the team will challenge Chinese Taipei on September 10.

Biraj Maharjan is not a part of the team while Bimal Rana and Alan Neupane have also not been included.

Cutting two names, goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong and midfielder Rohit Chand replaces Neupane and Rana from his latest squad that traveled Malaysian to play Malaysian League champion Johor Darul Ta’Zim on August 26, 2019.

Goalkeepers: Kiran Chemjong, Bikesh Kuthu, Bishal Shrestha

Defenders: Saroj Dahal, Ajit Bhandari, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Ananta Tamang, Devendra Tamang, Rajeen Dhimal, Suman Aryal

Midfielders: Sunil Bal, Ravi Paswan, Anjan Bista, Sujal Shrestha, Heman Gurung, Bikram Lama, Tej Tamang, Santosh Tamang, Bishal Rai, Rohit Chand

Forwards: Bimal Gharti Magar, Abishek Rijal, Nawayug Shrestha.
