KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to close its central office on Tuesday (November 19) to mourn the death of former Speaker Damannath Dhungana.

In addition, the party has decided to fly the flag at half-mast at its central office for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday)

The party’s central committee meeting, held today, passed a condolence proposal and made the decision to hold a mourning meeting on the 13th day of demise.

Former Speaker Dhungana passed away on Sunday at the age of 83 at Frontline Hospital in Kathmandu.

The Nepali Congress expressed its sorrow and shock at his death.

Dhungana served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2048 BS to 2051 BS after winning from Kathmandu Constituency No. 2.

He was also a candidate for the Nepali Congress from Bhaktapur Constituency No. 2 in the 2074 BS elections.
