NC grieves leader Gauchan’s demise



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed grief over the death of Bimala Gauchan, Nepali Congress leader and a member of the Gandaki Province Assembly.

Issuing a condolence statement on behalf the party, NC Central Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel expressed deep sorrow over the passing of 63-year-old Bimala Gauchan, who was also a member of the Nepali Congress Gandaki Province Working Committee.

She was also the former president of Nepal Women’s Association Myagdi, a sister organization of the party.

Gauchan died last night at Grande International Hospital where she was receiving treatment for dengue.

Besides her involvement in politics, she was also a successful tourism entrepreneur.

She had played an active role in building the Nepali Congress party organization and in Nepal’s democratic movement.

The NC stated that it has lost an experienced woman leader in Gauchan’s demise.

Similarly, NC President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed profound sorrow over leader Gauchan’s demise.
