COP-29: President Paudel to conduct high-level session

BAKU: President Ram Chandra Paudel, attending the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-29), will conduct a high-level session today on behalf of Nepal.

During this session, titled “Addressing Climate-Related Damage in Mountainous Areas,” Nepal aims to bring global attention to its climate agenda.

In his address at the COP summit on Tuesday, President Paudel urged the international community to recognize that the security of mountain regions is integral to the security of the planet.

He emphasized, “Let us all remember that protecting our mountains means protecting the Earth. The transformation of the pristine white peaks in mountainous countries into barren landscapes will not only result in crises for those nations but will also impact low-lying coastal countries.”

In a meeting with Dr. Mohammad Maijju, President of the Maldives, on Tuesday, President Paudel highlighted the importance of collaboration in climate negotiations, noting that both Nepal and the Maldives are significantly affected by climate change.

This year, Nepal is participating in the “World Leaders Climate Action Summit” under President Paudel’s leadership.

The conference is gathering influential leaders from around the world, including presidents or vice presidents from 40 countries and prime ministers from 35 nations, to discuss and promote global cooperation on climate change.
