BIRGUNJ: The two-day Tarai-Madhesh National Congress of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal) that concluded here today decided to call on the for establishing the Tarai-Madhes Integrated Authority.

RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa shared this while addressing a news conference the party organized here today.

RPP-Nepal argued that the formation of the Authority is essential for the development of the province and uplifting the economic condition of the people of the 21 districts of the Tarai-Madhes.

“The population in the Madhes is more than half the population of the whole country. But the economic standard of the people of the province has not improved. The RPP-Nepal’s national congress has made a decision that the livelihood of the people in the Tarai-Madhesh has to be improved by establishing the said Authority,” Thapa said.

According to him, only negligible budget is allocated for the development of Tarai-Madhesh at present and the budget should be allocated on the basis of population in the coming days.

RPP-Nepal also called for formation of a Mother Language Preservation Commission for the conservation and promotion of the Maithili, Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Tharu languages to further expand the cultural diversity of the Tarai-Madhes region.

Chairman Thapa stated that the Tarai-Madhesh National Congress has decided calling for moving ahead an integrated plan on agriculture and irrigation in the Tarai-Madhesh which is the ‘granary’ of the whole country.
