KATHMANDU: Aam Janata Party (AJP) Chairman Prabhu Sah has criticized Prime Minister KP Oli’s behavior, likening it to that of notorious ‘Dhurbe elephant’ in Chitwan.
Sah called for immediate correction of PM Oli’s actions, stating that the Prime Minister’s behavior is chaotic and could lead to a dictatorship.
Speaking to media at the parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Friday, Sah, a former minister, condemned the use of police to suppress peaceful protests, accusing PM Oli’s government of undemocratic practices.
He specifically mentioned the police’s actions against youth who chanted slogans during the Women’s SAFF Championship final at Dasharath Stadium.
Sah also expressed surprise at reports that the government was preparing to bring Ratan Karki, a student in Japan, back to Nepal through Interpol.
Karki had previously made a provocative comment against Prime Minister Oli.
Defending Karki, Sah said the government’s actions were ruthless and would only tarnish the image of its leaders.
Referring to the government’s intolerance for criticism, Sah stated, “It is a serious mistake for PM Oli, who claims to support people’s multi-party democracy, to be unable to tolerate criticism from ordinary citizens.”
He continued, “Using force against peaceful protesters is wrong. If this behavior is not corrected, it will alienate the people, and they will see through it.”
