JANAKPURDHAM: Devotees in Janakpurdham have been setting up offerings at various decorated ghats in preparation for the Chhath festival from early morning, where they will honor the setting sun with prayers and offerings.
To mark this festival, devotees have begun arranging fruits and other items on the banks, symbolizing purity, harmony, and devotion.
Chhath, known for its themes of reverence and joyous celebration, will be observed today with devotion as followers worship the sun god, Surya.
On the festival’s third day, devotees stand knee-deep in water at ponds and reservoirs, applying vermilion, placing sacred rice grains and flowers, and offering a mix of fruits and delicacies to the setting sun.
This ritual is observed for blessings of health, prosperity, fertility, and relief from skin ailments, rooted in a belief that the Chhath Puja fosters community bonds and goodwill.
The Chhath festival unites people from diverse backgrounds in shared worship, breaking barriers between social classes and communities.
