KATHMANDU: Nepal is playing against Kuwait in the ICC Women’s U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers today.
On Wednesday, Nepal secured a commanding 67-run victory over Thailand in the tournament’s opening match at The Seven Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
Chasing a target of 103 runs set by Nepal, Thailand was bowled out for just 35 runs in 11.4 overs.
Rachana Kumari Chaudhary was the standout bowler for Nepal, taking 4 wickets, while Captain Puja Mahato and Riya Sharma each claimed 2 wickets.
Additionally, Karishma Gurung and Manisha Kumari Upadhyay took 1 wicket each.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal posted a total of 102 runs, losing 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Puja Mahato led the scoring with 35 runs, supported by Simana KC and Soni Pakhrin, who both contributed 19 runs.
Alongside hosts the UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, and Thailand are competing in the qualifiers, which will run until November 14.
The top team from this tournament will earn a place in the World Cup.
