KATHMANDU: The Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) is introducing an aesthetic oculoplasty service (ophthalmic plastic surgery) soon.

During a seminar on aesthetic oculoplasty held today, Executive Director Dr. Sanduk Ruit highlighted the potential of this service in Nepal, indicating that it will be available shortly at TIO and the Tilganga City Eye Center in Chuchchepati.

Dr. Ruit explained that aesthetic oculoplasty is a specialized service aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the eyes and surrounding areas.

It is sought after for improving facial beauty through surgical and other treatment methods, attracting public interest.

In addition to aesthetic procedures, TIO offers treatments for conditions like strabismus, eye twitching, watery eyes, and thyroid eye diseases.

The seminar featured presentations from international experts in aesthetic oculoplasty from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore, who emphasized that such services should only be performed by experienced and specialized ophthalmologists.
