KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN Maoist Centre, has announced plans to make its government-focused warning assemblies nationwide.
During an address at a rally held on Exhibition Road in Kathmandu on Saturday, party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda stated that they will expand this assembly to all parts of the country.
Dahal mentioned that they are preparing to circulate a schedule for organizing similar assemblies at the grassroots level within the party.
“We will send programs for this assembly to every municipality and ward in the country,” Dahal said.
He warned that programs against the government would be organized down to the ward level, and if the government does not take this seriously, these assemblies could turn into protests and movements.
“By holding large warning assemblies across the country, if the government seeks excuses, we will demand a special session in the legislature. We will engage in constitutional struggle against them,” he said. “If they do not take our concerns seriously, this assembly will turn into a massive protest and movement. The responsibility now lies with the government.”
Maoist chair Dahal also suggested that the party, in collaboration with the people, is committed to laying the groundwork for a socialist revolution through a new campaign, urging that no one should underestimate this resolve.
“Your tremendous presence and enthusiasm in such a short time have given us new energy for a new movement, a new campaign. We are not in a hurry,” Dahal said. “But we are determined to prepare the foundation for a socialist revolution through a new campaign with the people. No one should underestimate this.”
