KATHMANDU: Secretary of the main opposition CPN-Maoist Center, Hitman Shakya, remarked that the government “trembled” during the party’s warning assembly.

Speaking at the ongoing assembly on Kathmandu’s Exhibition Road, Shakya claimed that the demonstration had left the government, led by CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, visibly shaken.

“This government is trembling even at a basic warning assembly. It has begun to see its own end, which is why they’re urging us not to seek a change in leadership from the streets,” Shakya stated.

He clarified that Saturday’s assembly was not intended as a campaign to topple the government. “This is not a campaign to change the government. It’s not even a movement,” he said. “It’s simply a warning assembly.”

Shakya also alleged that the Oli-led government was formed to shield corrupt activities, saying, “This government exists to protect corruption and to promote conspiracies.”
