KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leaders are currently holding a meeting in Kaski after an extension of Rabi Lamichhane’s detention in the cooperative fraud case.

Leaders have stated that they are preparing to organize protests on Friday in Kathmandu’s Maitighar and several locations in Pokhara.

According to RSP lawmaker Hari Dhakal, discussions are underway to make Friday’s protests more widespread. He said, “We will ensure justice for the cooperative victims and also secure justice for our party chair.”

Following the court’s permission to extend Lamichhane’s detention for an additional seven days, RSP members and leaders have become more agitated, with some defying restricted zones in Kaski out of frustration.

Meanwhile, their escalating demonstrations, aimed at pressuring the court, have frustrated cooperative fraud victims.

Victims from cooperatives, including Suryadarshan, are demanding justice and protesting in Pokhara.

Carrying empty plates with stones to symbolize their grievances, they claim the state has also wronged them.

While Lamichhane claims that he did not cheat the co-operative, the victims’ anger remains directed at him.

They see the RSP’s protests in Pokhara as contributing to further unrest.
