Complaint filed against RSP lawmakers for obstructing court proceedings

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been lodged at the District Police Range Kathmandu against nine lawmakers from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for allegedly obstructing court proceedings.

The complaint, filed by Yuvraj Safal Paudel, a self-identified social activist, calls for a three-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 30,000 for the lawmakers under sub-section (4) of section (50) of the Criminal Code 2074 (2017).

In the complaint, Paudel accused RSP lawmakers of obstructing court proceedings after a parliamentary inquiry committee recommended the arrest of RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane in connection with a cooperative scam. He claims RSP lawmakers have issued mandatory attendance notices to party workers in Pokhara, instructing them to join protests—an action Paudel argues violates the Criminal Code.

The complaint specifically names eight RSP leaders: Dol Prasad Aryal, Dr Swarnim Wagle, Dr Toshima Karki, Santosh Pariyar, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Sumana Shrestha, Manish Jha, and Ganesh Parajuli.
