PM Oli’s Cabinet meeting postponed

KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for Monday has been postponed. The meeting was scheduled for 5:15 PM today, but ministers have confirmed that it will not take place as planned.

The meeting was expected to address the ordinance related to political parties. On Sunday, Prime Minister Oli held lengthy discussions with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba regarding the ordinance.

The meeting, which took place at Baluwatar, continued late into the night. Sources revealed that Foreign Minister and Deuba’s wife, Arzu Rana, was also present at the meeting.

During the talks, Deuba reportedly told Oli that he would not support the ordinance if it were introduced. This was followed by a conversation between Deuba and Nepali Congress leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Monday afternoon.

A Congress official speculated, “Perhaps the Cabinet meeting was postponed after our president indicated that he would not support the political parties-related ordinance.”

Meanwhile, UML ministers also expressed uncertainty about the reason for the postponement.
