KAVREPALANCHOWK: Devotees have thronged the Palanchok Bhagawati temple in Panchkhal since early this morning on the occasion of Navratri.

People offering ducks, goats and buffaloes to the goddess have also queued up. Established in 425 BS during the regime of King Mandev I, the temple of Palanchok Bhagawati is believed to have been constructed 1,656 years ago.

There is a myth that Palanchok Bhagawati in Buchakot had asked a local elderly man in dream to shift her idol from the place to the north.

According to local senior citizens, there was no big damage to the Palanchok Bhagwatit temple in the 1990 earthquake.

The upper part of the idol of the goddess was slightly tilted to the west due to earthquake, he further said.

The Gorkha earthquake of 2072 BS also caused minor damage to the temple.

Devotees from different parts of the country as well as from India come to visit the temple with the belief that offering worships to the Palanchok Bhagwati will fulfill their wishes.
