ILAM: Repair work on the Maikhola-Bhanjang section of the Mechi Highway has been halted following another landslide.

This section had already suffered damage from a landslide just days earlier.

The ongoing restoration efforts were suspended on Saturday evening due to the risk of further damage from continuous landslides, according to the Divisional Road Office.

With this road section now blocked, travelers must find alternative routes to reach Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, and Taplejung. In the meantime, efforts are underway to develop the Godak-Jogmai Khola-Tilkeki road as an alternative route to this section of the Mechi Highway.
