PM urges Nepali youth abroad to return and contribute to nation’s development

Prime Minister KP Oli has urged Nepali youth living abroad to return home and help create job opportunities for development.

Currently in New York to lead the Nepali delegation at the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Oli addressed the World Leaders Forum at Columbia University, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in national development.

He expressed that the aspiration for a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali” hinges on alleviating poverty and ensuring everyone’s right to live with dignity.

Foreign Minister Rana calls for global action to secure Bipin Joshi’s release

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana, currently attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, has urged the international community to take action for the safe release of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student believed to be in the custody of the extremist group Hamas.

Addressing the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, she emphasized the urgent need for global support in securing Joshi’s release.

Minister Rana stated that Nepal is eagerly awaiting his safe return.

‘Cleared of fraud, yet targeted,’ says RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane

Rabi Lamichhane, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, claimed on Tuesday that he has been cleared of any involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

Speaking during a Facebook Live session, Lamichhane revealed that a parliamentary investigation committee, led by UML lawmaker Surya Bahadur Thapa, has acquitted him of the charges.

Lamichhane addressed allegations that illegal funds were funneled into the Gorkha Media Network from various cooperatives.

Prachanda to Rabindra Mishra: If King Gyanendra had softened, Nepal’s path could have been different

Rabindra Mishra, Senior Vice Chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), held talks with Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, Chairman of the Maoist Center.

Following their discussion at Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar, Mishra shared a photo of the meeting and expressed his views on the monarchy.

Mishra stated that the country has reached a critical juncture where, without the restoration of the monarchy, it risks heading towards chaos.

“If the monarchy is not restored, this country is heading towards a state of explosion. At that time, nothing will remain of your progress, name, and legacy,” Mishra told Prachanda.

Gold price surges to new all-time highs

The price of gold has once again hit an all-time high, setting a new record.

After consistently reaching record levels throughout September, gold prices have continued to rise daily in the last week of September.

On Sunday and Monday, gold traded at notably high rates, with an increase of Rs 500 per tola since Monday.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, the price of gold today stands at Rs 159,700 per tola, up from Rs 159,200 yesterday.

In contrast, the price of silver has seen a decline today, with the current rate at Rs 1,915 per tola, reflecting a decrease of Rs five compared to yesterday.

PM Oli commits to open Nepali Consulate General in California

Prime Minister KP Oli has pledged to establish Nepali Consulate General in California soon.

Prime Minister Oli, who is currently in the United States to attend the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, reaffirmed this commitment after meeting with Nepali community organizations, in New York.

These groups have been advocating for a consulate in California, where approximately 100,000 Nepalis reside.

The Nepali diaspora emphasized the need for a consular office in San Francisco, given the significant distance to the current consulates in New York and Washington, D.C.

Sisneri-Dakshinkali road section to remain closed from today

Traffic on the Sisneri-Dakshinkali road section has been banned for 12 days from today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Laxmi Bhandari informed the vehicular movement has been closed till October 5 for blacktopping of the Dakshinkali-Chhaim section of the Sisneri-Dakshinkali section.

The road stretch connects Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati province, to the federal capital Kathmandu.

SC denies interim order to release Durga Prasai

The Supreme Court (SC) has declined to grant interim order to release Durga Prasai, a medical entrepreneur.

During a hearing on the habeas corpus writ filed by Prasai’s son, Nirajan Prasai, Judge Prakashman Singh Raut issued a show cause order but did not order his release.

Nirajan Prasai alleged that his father was being held illegally and sought an immediate release order.

Dengue cases rises in Kathmandu Valley

As major festivals like Dashain and Tihar draw near, the number of people falling ill in Kathmandu Valley is on the rise, with dengue cases increasing significantly.

Despite the colder season not yet beginning and the monsoon lingering, dengue cases have surged since the start of Ashwin.

The Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital has seen a growing number of dengue patients in its emergency room.
