Trump offers to mediate on Kashmir issue

Willing to assist India



WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said he is ‘ready to assist’ India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue if they asked for it.

The White House said that Washington was ‘very closely’ monitoring the situation.

It said that the US is watching the situation in Kashmir closely. A senior US administration official said that the US continues to call for calm and restraint.

India has been maintaining that the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter. (Agencies)
