NC President Deuba rules out plans to dismantle provincial structure
President of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that the provincial structure in Nepal will not be dismantled.
Despite ongoing debates about the necessity of the provincial structure, NC President Deuba emphasized that it is an established part of the governance system and will remain in place.
Speaking at a seminar in the capital today, President Deuba stressed that instead of removing the provincial structure, efforts should be directed towards making it more accountable and transparent.
Will change the situation through ballot: Rabi Lamichhane
Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has stated that his entry into politics was driven by the lack of progress in citizens’ lives despite systemic changes in the country.
Inaugurating the national gathering at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu, today, Lamichhane asserted that interest in the party is growing daily.
He acknowledged that the party faces both challenges and resistance but emphasized that their presence has become a significant issue for others.
Indrajatra observed today
The traditional festival, Indrajatra, was observed today by worshiping the Devraj Indra, the God of rains and good harvest. This festival is celebrated especially in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, and Dhulikhel and Dolakha.
The annual traditional festival begins on the Bhadra Shukla Chaturdansi of Nepali month, Bhadra. It is an eight-day long festival.
On the day the festival begins, a sacred wooden pole called Lingo with flags on its top is erected at Hanuman Dhoka, the historic place of Nepal.
President stresses on enhancing public faith in democracy
President Ram Chandra Paudel has stressed on enhancing the public’s faith on democracy, while praising the role played by the country’s community radios in establishing the federal democratic republic, human rights, good governance, the rule of law and social transformation.
Addressing a programme organized at the Rashtrapati Bhawan today to extend best wishes to the newly-elected office-holders of the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal (ACORAB), the Head of State said the role of the community radios was praiseworthy during adverse situations as the earthquake and Covid-19 pandemic.
Use of technology inevitable to build prosperous nation: PM Oli
Prime Minister KP Oli has said the role of science and technology sector was crucial to fulfill national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
In a message today on the occasion of the 12th National Science Day, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need of reviving our own tradition of scientific discovery in the world of science.
He mentioned, “Our educational system was unique and science-promoting in ancient period, but we failed to develop it in our own way.”
Deputy Speaker Rana leaves for Russia
Deputy Speaker Indira Rana left for for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, en route to the ‘4th Eurasian Women’s Forum,’ which will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from September 18-20.
From Dubai, she will travel to St. Petersburg via Moscow.
According to the Deputy Speaker’s private secretariat, she is scheduled to address the Forum, which is organized by the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, on September 19.
Rajendra Mahato announces new political party
Rajendra Mahato, the coordinator of the National Liberation Revolution, aimed at establishing a ‘multi-nation state’, has announced the formation of the National Liberation Revolution Nepal Party.
Mahato declared the birth of this party to fight for the rights of all oppressed citizens, during the inaugural meeting of the National Committee of the National Liberation Revolution, which started on Tuesday in Kathmandu.
He claimed that the party is committed to establishing a multi-nation state in the country. Mahato also mentioned that the National Liberation Revolution Nepal Party would develop necessary plans to protect the country’s diverse cultures while also improving the country’s economic condition.
