Report on Cooperatives presented at HoR

KATHMANDU: Surya Thapa, Chairman of the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee on the misappropriation of savings in cooperatives, has expressed confidence that the government will act on the Committee’s report.

Presenting the report to the House of Representatives on Monday, Thapa emphasized that the findings were based on comprehensive evidence.

He expressed the optimism that if the government implements the recommendations, the issues plaguing cooperatives will be addressed effectively.

Thapa noted that the committee included representatives from various political parties, underscoring that the problems with cooperatives extend beyond party affiliations.

The report tackles issues such as embezzlement, fraud, and other forms of abuse.

“We interviewed individuals both inside and outside of prison to gather all necessary information and prepared a detailed report,” Thapa said.

“I urge the government to act on our recommendations. Our suggestions are crucial for resolving the cooperative crisis.”
