Visiting Norwegian delegation and Nepal’s International Relations Committee discuss shared goals and cooperation

KATHMANDU: The visiting 14-member delegation of Norwegian parliamentarians, led by MP Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide — former Foreign Minister and Defense Minister of Norway — engaged in a meeting with members of the International Relations and Tourism Committee.

The delegation held a meeting with Chairman Raj Kishor Yadav and members of the Committee.

Chairman of the Committee Raj Kishor Yadav stated that this was the first instance of a parliamentary committee from both countries engaging in a discussion.

He emphasized that the visit and meeting were conducted as part of parliamentary diplomacy.

During the meeting, members of both parliamentary teams discussed the friendly and cooperative relations between Nepal and Norway.

The discussion covered topics such as the operation of parliamentary governance systems, democratic processes, and collaboration on shared global agendas.

Parliamentarians from both nations reaffirmed their commitment to work together on common values including democracy, human rights, and social justice.

Additionally, Nepal and Norway agreed to collaborate in international forums to mitigate the effects of climate change and achieve sustainable development goals.
