KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has stated that Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Indira Rana Magar, should be allowed to provide an explanation in Parliament regarding the letter she reportedly sent to the American Embassy.

Acting Spokesperson of RSP, Manish Jha, stated that the party has resolved to allow Deputy Speaker Rana Magar to clarify whether she used the Parliament Secretariat’s letterhead for the letter in question during the House of Representatives meeting.

Jha mentioned that the party’s secretariat, in a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, decided to support Deputy Speaker Rana Magar’s right to address the matter in Parliament.

Deputy Speaker Rana Magar has indicated that the party will formally request an opportunity to respond to the issue during the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday.

The controversy surrounding the letter, which had been kept under wraps for 18 months, has led some parties to suggest that the move to remove Deputy Speaker Rana Magar is driven by self-interest.
