NEPSE falls by 25 points, turnover exceeds Rs 10 billion



KATHMANDU: The stock market experienced a decline at the start of the week.

On Sunday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) dropped by 25.46 points, ending the day at 2701.90 points, a decrease of 0.93 percent.

The market initially showed a positive trend, starting with a 5-point gain in the pre-open session.

After opening, the NEPSE index briefly rose to a maximum of 2760 points before dipping to a minimum of 2697 points.

Today’s trading saw a total of 112,300 shares exchanged, representing 2,22,62,924 shares with a turnover of over Rs 10 billion.

In today’s trading activity, shares of 328 companies were bought and sold.

Out of these, 85 companies saw an increase in share prices, while 157 experienced a decline. The share prices of 3 companies remained unchanged.

Among the sectoral groups, the development bank group experienced the largest decline, falling by 2.07 percent to 5,423.54 points.

Conversely, the microfinance group saw the most significant growth, rising by 1.21 percent to 5,275.50 points.

Other notable movements include the commercial bank group up by 1.58 percent, finance up by 1.24 percent, hotel and tourism up by 1.41 percent, hydro up by 0.60 percent, investment up by 0.54 percent, life insurance up by 1.42 percent, and non-life insurance up by 1.28 percent.

The manufacturing and processing group increased by 0.50 percent, and the mutual fund group saw a modest rise of 0.22 percent.
