Minister Bhattarai lauds Nepal-Pakistan educational ties



KATHMANDU: Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai has highlighted the enduring warmth and depth of Nepal-Pakistan relations.

Addressing an annual alumni get-together organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, Bhattarai expressed her appreciation for Pakistan’s role in Nepal’s development, particularly through its support for technical education.

In her remarks, Bhattarai praised the Government of Pakistan for providing quality education to Nepalese students through various scholarships, including those under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme (PTAP).

She noted that graduates from Pakistani institutions have been instrumental in contributing to Nepal’s progress with their advanced educational backgrounds.

The Minister also conveyed her hope for continued support from Pakistan in the future.

The event, which honored graduates from fields such as MBBS, BDS, D. Pharmacy, BS Engineering, Mass Communication, and Agriculture, was attended by leading academicians and social figures who have played key roles in strengthening the people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, echoed Bhattarai’s sentiments, emphasizing that the educational scholarships reflect the strong bonds between Nepal and Pakistan.

Hashmi highlighted the lifelong friendships and positive experiences Nepalese students gain while studying in Pakistan.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting educational scholarships and announced an expansion of the program with five additional seats for the current year, with plans for gradual increases in the future.

The Ambassador also noted the recent introduction of a visa fee waiver, aimed at further facilitating Nepalese students’ travel to Pakistan for higher studies.
