RAMECHHAP: The bodies of two people, including an infant, have been found among those who went missing in a landslide last night in Doramba-Shailung Rural Municipality-3, Lekkhark Pokhari village, Ramechhap.
Inspector Kaushal Neupane said that the bodies of 30-year-old Chandika Shrestha and 18-month-old Amus Shrestha were recovered.
Three houses were swept away by the landslide, and everyone in those houses is currently missing.
It is not clear how many people were in the three houses swept away by the landslide, reports said.
The landslide occurred at around 3:30 a.m. last night, affecting four houses in the area.
Ramechhap Police Chief DSP Pradeep Kumar Singh later reported that eight people are missing as a result of the landslide.
The exact number of missing individuals has yet to be confirmed, police said.
The landslide has completely damaged three houses and partially damaged one other.
Local reports confirm that all occupants of the three completely destroyed houses are missing, though it is still unclear how many people lived in those homes.
The search for the missing continues, and the possibility of eight missing individuals has not been definitively confirmed.
The location is approximately 50 km from the Ramechhap headquarters in Manthali.
