Meetings of five parliamentary committees taking place today

KATHMANDU: Five parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are holding meetings today.

The Finance Committee; Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee; Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee; Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee; and Public Accounts Committee are all on the schedule.

The Finance Committee will convene at 11:00 a.m. at Singha Durbar to discuss the Banking Offenses and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080, with the Finance Minister.

Simultaneously, the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee will meet at Singha Durbar to address several key issues.

These include the transfer of Nepal Oil Corporation’s fuel storage at Tribhuvan International Airport, the Parliamentary Study and Recommendation Committee’s 2071 report on the feasibility of ethanol as an alternative energy.

Meanwhile, the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee will also meet at 11:00 a.m. at Singha Durbar to discuss a bill concerning legislative arrangements.

In the afternoon, the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will meet to review the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation’s program priorities, action plans, budget issues, and performance challenges.

Similarly, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is scheduled to meet at 1:00 p.m. at Singha Durbar to discuss arrears related to dedicated feeder and trunk lines.
