Maoist Centre Chair promises internship opportunities for students returning from Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has committed to arranging internship opportunities in Nepal for medical students who have returned from Bangladesh due to recent political unrest.

During a meeting with the students, Dahal expressed his intention to discuss the matter with the government, noting that a one-time arrangement for internships could be possible given the special circumstances.

The students had requested Dahal’s assistance, explaining that they had to leave their internships in Bangladesh due to the difficult situation and that a special legal provision allows for internships in Nepal under such circumstances.

In response, Dahal contacted Satish Kumar Dev, Registrar of the Nepal Medical Council, to inquire about the feasibility of such arrangements.

Registrar Dev confirmed that the Education Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Health Minister have already agreed to allow these students to undertake internships in Nepal under exceptional circumstances, pending a Cabinet decision.
