Parliamentary probe committee records statement of Galaxy Television’s Joshi in cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU: The parliamentary investigation committee has recorded the statement of Chabilal Joshi Banjade, a business partner of GB Rai, the owner of Galaxy Television, in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

Joshi was summoned to Singha Durbar for interrogation regarding alleged embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, Supreme Cooperative in Butwal, and Sahara Cooperative in Chitwan.

These funds are suspected to have been diverted through Gorkha Media.

The committee is also set to record the statement of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the former managing director of Galaxy Television, later today.

Surya Thapa, Chairman of the Committee, stated that the statement-gathering process is nearing completion, with the focus now shifting to drafting the final report.

The committee has indicated that evidence suggests Lamichhane and others were involved in embezzling funds by transferring money from various cooperatives.
