15 passengers rescued unconscious after bus plunges into Marsyangdi river, 11 still missing

KATHMANDU: A passenger bus traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu plunged into the Marsyangdi River near Ainapahara in Ambukhaireni, Tanahu, on Friday morning.

The bus, registered in India (UP 53 FD 7623), veered off the road around 11:30 AM and fell into the river.

Rescue efforts have been challenging, with security personnel managing to recover 15 passengers in an unconscious state.

However, 11 passengers remain missing.

Constable Ishwor Thapa of the Benitar Police Check Post stated, “We are facing difficulties in lifting the passengers from the riverbank to the road, and we are carrying one passenger at a time.”

Divers have been mobilized by the district administration office to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations.

A representative from the travel agency has confirmed that the bus was carrying 39 people at the time of the accident.
