KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Raj Kumar Timilsina, a fugitive accused in a fake audio scam, on Wednesday evening.

A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended Timilsina in Pepsicola.

Timilsina had allegedly created a fake audio recording involving Supreme Court judges, legal experts, media personnel, and journalists.

This fabricated audio was then published as part of the “Dark File” series by Siddhakura.com.

The Cyber Bureau later confirmed the audio to be fake.

Previously, the District Government Attorney Office had filed a case against Timilsina and two others on charges of banking offenses and other related crimes in connection with the scam.

Additionally, a lawsuit had been filed against publisher Yuvaraj Kandel in connection with the publication of “The Dark File,” which was allegedly fabricated to defame the judiciary.

The Supreme Court had instructed the police to investigate the technical aspects of the audio publicly released by Siddhakura.com under the name “The Dark File.”

Meanwhile, the publication and broadcast of news from “The Dark File” series have been suspended.
