Foreign Minister Rana holds courtesy meeting with Indian PM Modi

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, currently on a visit to India, had a courtesy call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening at Hyderabad House, a venue designated for meetings with foreign dignitaries.

The discussion lasted approximately thirty minutes.

Peace process will be concluded soon: Home Minister Lekhak

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that the current government is dedicated to bringing the peace process to a successful conclusion.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Lekhak highlighted that the peace process is now in its final stages.

He expressed confidence that the coalition government, formed by the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, would achieve lasting peace and good governance while addressing public discontent.

US to donate two skytrucks and two helicopters to Nepal

The United States has committed to donating two M28 Skytrucks, valued at approximately $37 million, to Nepal by January 2025.

These short take-off and landing fixed-wing planes include one specially equipped as a dedicated air ambulance, marking a first for Nepal.

The aid package also encompasses training for pilots and maintenance personnel, along with parts support, according to a statement from the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

Foreign Minister Rana holds talks with Indian counterpart Jaishankar

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, who is currently on a five-day official visit to India, met with her Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar in New Delhi today.

The meeting commenced earlier today, with Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar welcoming Minister Rana and noting that their discussions focused on bilateral issues. This marks the first high-level visit from Nepal to India since the formation of the government led by Prime Minister KP Oli.

Four people die in landslide in Bajhang

A landslide triggered by continuous rainfall has claimed the lives of four individuals in Bajhang. The landslide occurred above Bhira Dhami’s residence in Bungal Municipality-10 Tumeda.

Six people, however, managed to escape unharmed. The bodies of the deceased, identified as Kali Dhami, Golki Dhami, Asika Dhami, and Laxmi Dhami, were recovered this morning. All four victims were members of the same family.

Three members of a family killed in Jajrkot landslide

Three members of a family were killed in a landslide this morning at Majhgaun in Nalgad Municipality-2, Jajarkot.

The deceased have been identified as Lal Bahadur Pariyar, 42, Manisa Pariyar, 34, and their two-year-old son Shivam Pariyar, all residents of Nalgad-2. According to Mayor Dambar Rawat, the family was residing in a temporary shelter constructed for earthquake victims.

Janai Purnima festival observed today

The festival of ‘Janai Purnima’ or ‘Rishi Tarpani’ was celebrated across the country today. The festival is basically observed by the majority Hindus in the country.

On the occasion of Janai Purnima, the tagadharis or those who wear the ‘Janai’ (the sacred thread) around their bodies from the left shoulder to right change the sacred thread today after having a haircut and a bath.

According to the time-honoured tradition, Hindu people receive the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ thread, which is tied around the wrist as an amulet.

SAFF U-20: India defeats Bhutan

Defending champions India defeated Bhutan 1-0 in the match held here today under the SAFF U-20 football Championship.

India got off to a winning start in the tournament with the 1-0 victory over Bhutan in the match held today at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur. The only goal of the match was scored by Monirul Molla in the 37th minute of the match. Tomorrow, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka.

Woman murdered in land dispute in Myagdi

A woman was murdered in a land dispute in Malika Rural Municipality-3, Myagdi.

According to the district police office, 35-year-old Dalbir Sripali fatally attacked 43-year-old Binakumari BK from the same locality with a sharp weapon last night in Galkot, Dandagaon.

Police Inspector Rajan Rayamajhi from the District Police Office stated that Dalbir Sripali was arrested late at night by a team from the Area Police Office, Darwang, in Khaten village.

Fire breaks out in a house near Bagalamukhi Temple in Lalitpur

A fire broke out in a three-storey house belonging to local resident Amirman Bajracharya, located near the Bagalamukhi Temple in Lalitpur on Monday morning.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City Police Chief Sitaram Hachethu said that the blaze was caused by a gas leak while preparing food. Police, local residents, and three fire engines were promptly dispatched to control the fire.

Gold price down by Rs 300 per tola today

The price of gold in the Nepalese market decreased by Rs 300 per tola today. The price of gold reached Rs 152,300 per tola today, according to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation.

On Sunday, gold was traded at Rs 152,600. It should be noted that the gold price reached its highest level ever on Sunday. In addition, the price of silver remained unchanged today. The price of silver has been fixed at Rs 1,810 per tola, according to the Federation.
