Two motorcyclists killed in collision with oil tanker on East-West Highway

RAJBIRAJ: Two motorcyclists lost their lives in a collision with an oil tanker on Friday at Barmajhiya in Kanchanrup Municipality along the East-West Highway.

The victims, identified as Mahesh Kumar Mehata, 41, and Jay Prakash Mehta, 40, were residents of Harinagara Rural Municipality-3 in Sunsari District.

According to the police, Mahesh died at the scene, while Jay Prakash succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

The motorcycle (Pr 1-02047 Pa 1280), traveling westward, was struck by the oil tanker (Ko 1 Kha 7414).

The tanker driver, Mithilesh Yadav, 32, from Karjana Municipality in Siraha District, was also injured in the accident and is currently receiving treatment at a local health facility, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhundiraj Neupane.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
