Citizens should not suffer during security checks: CM Kandel

KARNALI: Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has instructed security agencies to conduct security checks in a manner that avoids causing unnecessary inconvenience to the general public.

In a meeting with representatives from province-based security agencies and transport entrepreneurs, Chief Minister Kandel emphasized the importance of maintaining security sensitivity while ensuring that security measures do not create difficulties for citizens and businesses.

“I observed that checkpoints have been established at 17 locations from Surkhet to Jumla via Dailekh,” he noted, urging security agencies to reconsider whether so many checkpoints are necessary.

He underscored the importance of enforcing laws while ensuring that the public does not suffer unnecessarily under the guise of law enforcement.

Journalists, industrialists, businessmen, civil society leaders, and legal practitioners have raised concerns about the harassment faced by the general public due to security checks and the actions taken by traffic police against established rules.
