Cabinet approves action plan for Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airports

KATHMANDU: The government has approved a comprehensive plan of action for overall reforms in the civil aviation sector.

The Council of Ministers, in its meeting on August 12, also approved specific action plans for the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

Minister Gurung made the announcement during a news conference on Tuesday at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

In the same meeting, the cabinet appointed Ramesh Acharya from Dhading district as the General Manager of Food Management and Trading Company Limited and Prakash Prasad Pokharel from Ilam district as the General Manager of Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited.

Minister Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, further stated that the cabinet appointed Dr. Rewati Raman Poudel, Dr. Yamuna Ghale, Dr. Reshma Shrestha, and Jagat Bahadur Deuja as members of the Federal Land Utilization Council.

Additionally, the cabinet approved the participation of Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya in the 12th Conference on South Asian Election Management, scheduled to be held in Bhutan from August 13-16.

The cabinet also approved a loan of USD 110 million from the Asian Development Bank for irrigation projects and formed a panel, led by a joint secretary from the Finance Ministry, to negotiate a grant of USD 15 million.

Finally, the cabinet accepted the resignation of two first-class Civil Service officers, Indu Bikram Joshi and Komal Prasad Dhamal.
