Truck carrying goods worth over 71 lakhs seized by police



KATHMANDU: Bara Police have seized a truck en route from Birgunj to Chitwan on suspicion of customs evasion.

On Monday, the police intercepted the cargo truck with the registration number Na 3 Kha 3950 at Amlekhganj Chowk, Bara Jitpur Simra Sub-Metropolitan City-21.

According to Bara Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Sapkota, the truck was seized by a team from the Amlekhganj Area Police Office.

The truck was carrying retail goods valued at Rs 71,67,534, including cosmetics, ready-made fancy clothing, and mill parts.

During the inspection, the police discovered that the value of the goods exceeded the amount listed on the bill, leading to the apprehension of the source of the goods.

The truck and its driver have been forwarded to the Internal Revenue Office Pathlaiya for further action.
