Traffic in Bhojpur’s Salpasilichho remains difficult as floods wash away roads

BHOJPUR: Traffic movement has become tougher in Salpasilichho Rural Municipality of Bhojpur district with flood-fed Irkhuwa rivulet washing away roads.

Mobility was toughened when the floods that occurred on July 30 washed away the portions of the 20-km road along the Khamdak section from Gothebazar to Nagdaha via Dobhane and Osepla.

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality Anish Kafle informed that the floods caused damages to the bridge and other structures.

He shared there was a problem in the transportation of food grains due to the disruption in road traffic.

A loss worth Rs 50 million was incurred when the floods destroyed the structures.

All three roads leading to Bhojpur district headquarters and other districts along with Chaukidanda, the center of the rural municipality, have been closed, said rural municipality chair Daulath Kulung.

He said the budget of the rural municipality could not repair the damaged road and make a new one in the flood-ravaged place.

It is estimated that Rs 100 million will be spent to construct the road.

He said they had no option but to approach the federal and province governments to construct the damaged structures.
