Dr. Bagchand recommended as Chief Judge of Pokhara High Court

KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council has recommended Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, currently serving as a judge at the temporary bench of Birgunj in the High Court Janakpur, for appointment as the Chief Judge of Pokhara High Court.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Judicial Council, chaired by Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha. Spokesperson Ashok Kumar Chhetri confirmed the recommendation.

In the same meeting, the Council also recommended the appointment of 35 District Judges. Of these, 25 appointees are from the judicial service, six from the government attorney service, and four from the law service.

According to the constitutional provision, District Judges are appointed by the Chief Justice based on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.

It is worth noting that there are currently four vacancies for judges in the Supreme Court and 10 in the High Court.
