KATHMANDU: The government has abolished the post of National Security Advisor.
A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to this effect, scrapping the “National Security Council’s National Security Advisor Appointment, Service Conditions, and Facilities Directive, 2080.”
The directive, introduced by the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, had earlier appointed Shankar Das Bairagi to the post.
At that time, Bairagi was serving as the Chief Secretary and was due to retire in three months.
Prior to his retirement, Bairagi was appointed as National Security Advisor.
Following the formation of the new coalition government of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, Bairagi resigned from the post, leaving the position vacant.
