POKHARA: Minister of Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai has emphasized the need for a comprehensive overhaul of the teaching and evaluation systems to address existing problems in the education sector.

At a press conference hosted by Press Chautari Kaski in Pokhara today, Bhattarai highlighted ongoing discussions within the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee regarding the formulation of the School Education Act.

She noted that meaningful reform at Tribhuvan University is essential to restore public confidence in the institution.

Without a robust education act, policy, and legal framework, she warned that effectively managing the state’s educational system will be challenging.

Bhattarai outlined both immediate and long-term priorities to tackle the sector’s issues, including efforts to integrate local products into the school lunch program through discussions with various ministries.

She also emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a democratic state by ensuring justice and fairness.

The Minister called for a review of the higher education curriculum and stressed the importance of policy-driven education.

Criticizing the recent SEE and class 12 exam results as unsatisfactory, Bhattarai advocated for an urgent revision of the examination system to ensure its sustainability.
