NC’s Kamal Shah submits claim for CM of Sudurpaschim Province



KATHMANDU: Kamal Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Congress (NC) has submitted his claim for the position of Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province.

With backing from the CPN-UML, Shah presented his claim for the Chief Minister role to Provincial Chief Najir Miya today.

Shah, who leads the Nepali Congress Sudurpaschim Parliamentary Party, is now in contention for the position.

Following the resignation of Dirgha Bahadur Sodari from the Unified Socialist Party, who was in the minority, Provincial Chief Miya had set a deadline of 5 pm today for submission of claims.

The position will be filled by a member of the Provincial Assembly who can secure a majority with support from two or more parties, in line with Article 168 of the Constitution.
